Project no.2

The hosue is desigined for renowned artist, Olafur Eliasson. The house was inspired by Olafur’s artwork and interest to meet his needs for his getaway house. The house has many structural elements which carry the house’s aesthetic. The cylinder stairway, ‘glass box’ acting as a threshold of inside and outside bridging nature with indoors. A cantilevering balcony allowing Eliasson to get a 360 view of the beautiful landscapes). The interior of the house was inspired from his heritage (Norway), his studio in Berlin, Germany and his artworks, creating a calm space which allows him to feel at home and get creative. The panaromic landscape window on the ground floor captures the stunning views looking out at Avon, Gorge.

Below are a series of images showing the different process's and approach I took to explore the concepts. Through model making, material studies and playing with CAD. I enjoyed this project very much, as it enabled me to challenge myself by taking bold design decisions for the house and allowed me to gain a better understanding in developing creative bold designs.
